About this pass
The San Lugano Pass (also known as the San Lugano Saddle, Luganer Sattel, etc.; Italian: Passo di San Lugano) is an Italian mountain pass in the Val di Fiemme Alps, connecting the Adige Valley (or Lower Adige) with the Val di Fiemme, and thus South Tyrol with Trentino. At the summit, at an altitude of 1,097 meters above sea level, lies the village of San Lugano, part of the municipality of Truden. To the northeast, the pass is overlooked by the foothills of the Schwarzhorn; immediately to the southwest, protected mountain ranges within the Trudner Horn Nature Park begin.
The pass is accessible by road via the SS 48, and until 1963, the Val di Fiemme Railway also ran over the pass.
